SUMMARY:Festakt: Feierliche Eröffnung des Brucknerfestes Linz 2026
LOCATION:Großer Saal
DESCRIPTION:At last! The Brucknerfest Linz 2026 opens with its traditional ceremonial gala. Swedish conductor Kajsa Boström makes her debut leading the Upper Austrian Youth Symphony Orchestra\, performing music by her great-grandfather Ture Rangström\, Sweden's national composer\, who in 1922 conducted in Gothenburg the very first performance of a Bruckner symphony in Sweden—Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 in C minor. Against this backdrop\, Rangström's music enters into dialogue with Bruckner during the gala\, featuring Bruckner's orchestral arrangement of his setting of August von Platen's "My Heart and Your Voice"—sung by Rafael Fingerlos. Before this comes the world premiere of a new work by Linz composer Thomas Doss\, who explicitly engages with Bruckner's sound world. The grand finale is formed by Bruckner's orchestration of the first movement of Beethoven's "Pathétique" Sonata\, which he committed to paper in Linz in September 1862.
