Pure string chamber music is relatively rare with us, and Schubert's unique quintet even more so: The Varga Quartet Vienna (trained at the Vienna University of Music) is reinforced by Florian Eggner (second cello, well known to us from the Eggner Trio for decades), and presents the following program. J. Haydn - String Quartet D Major "Lark Quartet" Hob. III: 63 F. Schubert - String Quintet C Major D 956 Founded in the cultural space between Vienna and Bratislava, the Varga Quartet Vienna ranks among the most established young chamber music ensembles in Central Europe. The members of the Vienna-based string quartet completed their studies with distinction at renowned Austrian music education centers such as the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MdW), Music and Art Private University of the City of Vienna, and the University of Music and Dramatic Art Graz. Furthermore, they refined their instrumental and artistic skills through collaboration with outstanding soloists and chamber musicians such as Herbert Kefer, Othmar Müller (Artis Quartet Vienna), Reiner Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), Dalibor Karvay (Concertmaster of the Vienna Symphonists), and Eszter Haffner. This musical training is reflected in expressive and technically brilliant interpretations with which the quartet regularly captivates its audience.
