For several years, Viennese everyday poet Andreas Rainer has been collecting quotes, situations, and curiosities from Vienna's daily life. In a city of grand stages, his gaze focuses especially on the small alleys, coffeehouses, U-Bahn stations, and supermarkets where comedy and tragedy unfold side by side each day. After four books about the world's most livable and unfriendliest city, he has now published his first novel, in which his protagonist spontaneously decides at the airport to skip his planned business trip to the USA. Instead, he returns to the city, which he then wanders through aimlessly for three days, encountering numerous colorful characters he would never have noticed before. On this evening, Andreas Rainer takes you on a sometimes humorous, sometimes melancholic journey through a city where people flaunt their wealth while, just twenty meters away, the world is already falling apart. www.wieneralltagspoeten.at
