Resurrection in 2026 Thirty-one years after H.P. Zinker, the austro-american cult band, played their last show in Rotterdam, the legendary grunge trio around Hans Platzgumer is back on stage! Founded in 1989 by two Austrians in New York, the band quickly established themselves in the NY noise scene. They shared the stage with Sonic Youth, Ween, Nirvana, Helmet and the Lemonheads, J Mascis drummed for them, Evan Dando sang, and they played CBGB's monthly. Two of today's most influential US indie labels were founded especially for them: Matador and Thrill Jockeys' 001 catalogue number is an H.P. Zinker record. The London label Fire then signed them, from which Domino Records later emerged. The band recorded 5 studio albums, numerous singles, bootlegs, videos and received a Grammy nomination. In 1995, endless tours and drug excess took their toll and Zinker disbanded mid-tour after 6 turbulent years. For decades, Hans Platzgumer refused a revival of the group. Back in Europe he joined the Goldenen Zitronen, founded the successor band Convertible, had worldwide hits as Queen Of Japan, became a successful electronic musician, theatre composer and writer. But now, to the surprise and joy of many, he says: "The time is right. Something like Zinker needs to be on stage again today, because it's missing." After a 32-year hiatus, it continues!
