Grammy-nominated musicians Manu Delago and Max ZT have formed a new duo exploring the sonic possibilities of their instruments—handpan and hackbrett—in fresh ways. Sophisticated composition meets high improvisational artistry, creating impressive and sensual soundscapes with finesse and dynamism. "When I first heard Manu, I was blown away. It was his virtuosity and the unusual way he composes and plays his instrument," explains Max ZT. The duo met nearly 10 years ago when Manu Delago was touring the USA. "At our first concert in New York in 2019, we improvised mostly, but over the years those spontaneous ideas evolved into full compositions. Last year we finally found the perfect time and place to record—a stunning 18th-century space in an even older monastery in the Tyrolean Alps. A duo facing each other, both members just turned 40? We had to call the album Deuce," recalls Manu Delago. The composer and percussionist has performed in over 50 countries and collaborated with renowned artists including Björk, Anoushka Shankar, and The Cinematic Orchestra. As a soloist, he has performed with the Metropole Orkest and London Symphony Orchestra, among others. In his award-winning music film "Parasol Peak," Manu Delago leads his 7-piece ensemble on a mountain expedition. In 2021 and 2023, the adventurous musician launched the ReCycling Tour, a sustainable bicycle concert tour where his band and crew cycled 1500 kilometers across Europe. Hailed as "the Jimi Hendrix of the hackbrett" (
