A day like many others at veterinarian Maria's practice: a tortoise, a hedgehog, a guinea pig await her care. Along with practice dog Zuki (short for Zukunft/Future), of course. Yet inexplicable ailments plague the animals, nerves fray, something ominous looms, and Zuki can barely maintain order. Is the climate crisis heating up tempers? Is it the alienation between species? Or that strange smell? When bat Rocky suddenly crashes through the practice during a blackout and announces her bestial fantasies of uprising, both mistress and hound know: only operetta can help now. As the remedy of choice in times of crisis and change, it sweetens the transition – especially for those who already understand that something must change.
