About the exhibition
Linz-based artist Dietmar Brehm has been working for several decades in the media of film, video, painting, drawing, and photography. The exhibition at Linz Castle Museum focuses on his painterly and graphic work from the last decade. Brehm's painting is distinguished by a distinctive visual language, often employing few, striking signs placed on canvas. Despite recognizable forms and reduced compositions, his pictorial inventions are never simple to decipher. Rather, it is an enigmatic play of signs and supposed codes that characterizes his visual world. A dedicated space in the exhibition will also be devoted to Brehm's experimental film work, which has been recognized internationally for decades.
