About
“Someone must have slandered Josef K., for one morning, without having done anything wrong, he was arrested.” This opening of Franz Kafka’s “Der Prozess” (The Trial) also begins Gottfried von Einem’s opera. Josef K. faces an accusation he cannot understand, an absurd court with strict rules, and an arrest that leads to his death. Is it a real conspiracy, or his attempt to explain the incomprehensible?
