The StifterHaus is the Adalbert-Stifter-Institut of Upper Austria and occupies the former residence of writer Adalbert Stifter (1805–1868). Founded in 1950, the institute is a research institution for literary and linguistic studies and has housed the Upper Austrian Literature House with event programming since 1993. The Upper Austrian Literature Museum, located on the second floor, presents examples of Upper Austrian literary history from approximately 800 to the present day in five rooms.
