HEINZ AUS WIEN

HEINZ AUS WIEN is one of the defining bands of Vienna's and Austria's alternative scene. Founded in 1995 by four musicians from Vienna's indie circuit, they made a bold choice for 1990s Austria, tired of Austropop: guitar music with German lyrics – laconic, pointed, and deeply attuned to everyday life. With "Alles Gute, FM4," a birthday greeting for the newly launched radio station, the band scored their first hit. Their debut album "Welsfischen am Wolgadelta" (1996) and an international record deal followed. Songs like "Schalafen ohne dich," "(Ich wär gern) Johnny Depp," "Ich hab mit Tocotronic Bier getrunken," "Schön," and "Lieb im Prinzip" became classics for a generation. Multiple Amadeus nominations, numerous albums – from "Pasadena" (2000) and "Karate Karate" (2002) to "Grau in grau in Stadt" (2017) – and countless concerts across the German-speaking regions of Central Europe followed. Many collaborations ensued, even with a Federal President. Above all, Heinz aus Wien have always been known as a live band: those who've seen them on stage know that four friends stand there doing exactly what they've always done – thrilling their audience to exhaustion. Heinz aus Wien share a lot of history with Chelsea: band founding at the bar, first headline gig, and a long series of traditional Christmas concerts that we've resumed and which now take place at larger venues. 2026 is a special year for the band: Heinz aus Wien celebrate their 30th anniversary on stage and honor us by returning to their original stomping grounds.
