"Mr. Franz, - a Melange"? These are the words the waiter typically greets Mr. Franz with when he enters his regular café in Vienna's city center. With some regularity, Franz visits coffeehouses at different times of day to enjoy a melange and a slice of Sachertorte. In doing so, he indulges in his favorite pastime: "people watching" and photography. The images created in this way make the everyday coffeehouse experience come alive. People absorbed in their newspapers, waiters juggling trays of coffee and cake through rows of chairs, people just entering or leaving the coffeehouse, and those simply waiting. In their matter-of-factness, these images allow time to stand still for one moment and invite lingering and contemplation. So... "Shall we go for a melange?"
