With FALCO – DAMNED, WE'RE STILL ALIVE!, director Thomas Roth erected a cinematic monument to Austria's most dazzling pop star. The biopic tells the story of Johann "Hans" Hölzel, better known as Falco – from the musically gifted Viennese boy through his rise to international superstardom to his tragic death in 1998 in the Dominican Republic. The film traces Falco's extraordinary career: from his beginnings with Drahdiwaberl and Hallucination Company through his breakthrough with "Der Kommissar" to the worldwide success of "Rock Me Amadeus". At the same time, it looks behind the façade of the celebrated artist and reveals the dark sides of fame – an excessive lifestyle, alcohol and drug problems, private crises, and the constant search for recognition. Manuel Rubey convinces in the lead role with an intense performance and performs the well-known Falco hits himself.
