Die Strottern & JazzWerkstatt Wien „Sieben Zwetschken"

A special kind of collaboration emerges when DIE STROTTERN and JAZZWERKSTATT WIEN join forces. They're bringing their current third album "Sieben Zwetschken" to Dornbirn. The Strottern—aka Klemens Lendl and David Müller—are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. They perform and sing "with maximum avoidance of sentimentality and maudlinness, but with abundant poetic value and gallant melody (Samir Köck, Die Presse)" and have thus breathed new life into Viennese song. JazzWerkstatt Wien was founded in 2004 and has since been inspiration and companion to many musicians and composers. Seven musicians from this creative collective have teamed up with the Strottern to create a virtuoso gesamtkunstwerk. The album "Sieben Zwetschken" features texts from established figures of the Viennese song scene such as Karl Stirner and Christian Tesak, as well as Teresa Präauer and Lukas Meschik. "The result of this 'radical surgery' is an entirely newly conceived Viennese song that doesn't wallow in schmaltzy whimpering and languishing fragments, but instead wears an elegant to existentialist sonic garment, where jazz, reggae, funk, free jazz and world music shine.
