Maria Mazzotta is among the most impressive voices in the European world music scene. With great intensity and emotional depth, she moves between South Italian musical traditions, Balkan grooves, and contemporary soundscapes. At the center of her program is the album Amoreamaro – a multifaceted musical exploration of the different facets of love: tender and comforting, possessive and painful, healing and destructive at once. Traditional songs from Southern Italy meet new arrangements, poetic texts, and rhythmic forms like Pizzica, whose repetitive power was once considered music of healing. Maria Mazzotta combines musical research with great artistic openness and develops an expression deeply rooted in regional traditions while reaching far beyond them. Since the release of Amoreamaro, Maria Mazzotta has performed at renowned venues and festivals throughout Europe and beyond – from Paris to Bogotá, from WOMEX to the ORF Kulturhaus Vienna. Together with Antonino De Luca on accordion, an intense musical dialogue emerges full of energy and narrative power. Maria Mazzotta – vocals, percussion; Antonino De Luca – accordion.
