The collection is the heart and soul of our museum. The presentation is organized chronologically, allowing visitors to experience the most important art movements and styles from the 19th century to the present in their original form. We also focus on artists with a special connection to Linz and Lentos, such as VALIE EXPORT and Herbert Bayer. Art history is not static; on the contrary, the canon is constantly being rewritten, leading to ongoing reappraisals and rediscoveries. The museum thus becomes an instrument for experiencing and understanding art history, leading on to our temporary exhibitions, which primarily focus on contemporary art. The collection was comprehensively reinstalled from 2018 onwards under the direction of museum director Hemma Schmutz and her team.
