About the exhibition
The exhibition presents photoart books from the mid-20th century to the present that engage with social ruptures in the USA. The title alludes to the recurring motif of unease and isolation beyond the documented promise of prosperity. The works on display demand conscious deceleration through their sequential structure. This is a therapeutic side effect that proves urgently needed when leaving the exhibition and inevitably returning to one's own smartphone. Books by: Joel Sternfeld, Stephen Shore, Doug Rickard, Jeff Wall, Gregory Crewdson, Michael Vahrenwald, Christopher Anderson, Brad Feuerhelm, Gordon Parks, Gregory Halpern, Alec Soth, Todd Hido and Diane Keaton. Exhibition opening on September 8, 2026 from 6 PM.
