13 current projects demonstrate how existing buildings can be renovated, transformed, and repurposed to secure a sustainable future. A large house with garden, swimming pool, and two cars in the garage. A quiet, safe place for the nuclear family, close to nature and in a peaceful setting. To this day, the majority of the population aspires to realize this dream, with far-reaching social and ecological consequences such as land consumption, soil sealing, and vacant properties. Using historical materials, the exhibition traces the history of this lifestyle ideal, which—originating from American suburbs—conquered the world and successfully established itself here after World War II. Graphics and statistics illustrate the impact of single-family homes on humans, animals, and plant life. However, the exhibition's focus lies on the potential of existing building stock. Exhibition talks: Thursdays, July 16, August 27, and September 10, always at 6:00 PM
