The Nord Quartet combines Alpine sound traditions with musical influences from Scandinavia, creating a finely tuned sonic space between intimacy, vastness, and landscape. Since 2020, these four musicians from Tyrol, Styria, and Burgenland have moved together between Austrian folk music and Nordic soundscapes with great musical sensitivity. With accordion, Vienna horn, tuba, cello, and harp, they embark on a musical journey toward the north. Their starting point is traditional melodies, new compositions, and impressions that Johannes Kölbl gathered during his years-long stay in Scandinavia. Their program "Midnight Sun" musically depicts landscapes: clear lines, peaceful vastness, and dynamic natural imagery meet multi-part singing and warm acoustic timbres. This creates music that doesn't juxtapose Alpine and Nordic traditions, but brings them into resonance with one another. Magdalena Saringer – harp, vocals; Florian Gurdet – horn, melodeon, vocals; Johannes Kölbl – accordion, percussion, vocals; Robert Puhr – tuba, cello, vocals.
